Hmmm

Well it was a nice little piece to say the least.

What need to be fixed up:

The instrument sounds need to be tweaked both in the software sounds being used, and in the volumes of the individual instruments. Because it was hard to hear some of the parts.

It feels a lot longer than the :45 seconds it is, probably because of the tempo of the song.

I do realize that good sound software is difficult to find, but do a little bit of searching and you'll find something.

Anyways, I would love to hear a more expanded version of this song, even though I wouldn't be about to use it in something, since i am not a flash artist.

Anyways, not to bad. =3

sarias responds:

I've considered expanding on this, it has room to grow, it was only aloud to be up to 30 measures which is why its the tempo it is. also thats midi for you, kinda sucks. thanks for the review :)

well wasn't too bad...

But the vocals where just a bit out of tune in parts. Yes it's an Ozzy song, but come on. lol

Practice the song a bit more and work on he pitches a little more. I would have said the vocal effects where a bit much, but i decided to actually listen to the original song, and realized it was more of an homage to it. But maybe do a little tweaking to the speed of the effect, it feels a little funny to me, maybe speed up the effect slightly?

But overall, it wasn't to bad, didn't try to be the original, but also didn't do to much to change it, but work on those vocals, and this'll e great. =3

Means more to the "Bassline"

Very basic, put together well, and you even tried some dissonance in here, which is a big plus for me. But it need more.

I realize it was built off of the bassline, but it needs to expand and change throughout along with the "melodies" that are heard throughout. Oh and nice one there on the ending, i like that you didn't end it on the tonic note, and left us hanging lol

This has a very jammy sort of feel to it, which is good in some cases, and here it's a little spotty.

So to summarize, expand on the bass part, give it melodies that build off of the bottom part more than just chording, or at least more of the moving parts.

Anywho, not to bad =3

Sawdust responds:

Thanks, tough luck though, can't do a thing to the song anymore though, my pc got reformatted so I'm stuck with a demo version of FL Studio ( the program I use )

Why worry about it being dissonant?

This is in reference to the comment you made in EmperorCharlemagne's review. Because most all of the chords people are familiar could have been thought as dissonant to someone. This is why i think jazz chords are awesome. So don't worry about being dissonant, that make you contemporary in your composition.

The reasons for the rather low score are as follows:

You use the chords plenty in the song, but hat seems to be the only hing used. It doesn't feel like you expanded on the sound, more like you found a chord you liked and played it as much as possible lol

The drum kit is kinda, well... eh, i just didn't really like it, so I can't really be much help there...

so what i can say, is expand the chord use, buy giving it a distinct melody, rather than just the chord. =3

Dr-Slump responds:

Oh, thank you mr. Kirbyfemur! Well... I've tried to be rather minimalist in this one. And I didn't worry about the fact of being dissonant. The problem is the keys you can use with 9th chords... one slight error and you screw the whole thing up.

I'll keep in mind what you said, and watch out for the song I'm actually composing. It's really not minimalist, and it's giving a pain in the sack. Bet you're gonna like it. I'll pm you, if I may. Until then.

Gotta love the idiots that already reviewed this..

Lol, I mean come on, when he says "I need your feedback to improve :) and I will respond to every review" he doesn't mean be a fuck off and say "Oh good job, like it !" or "Fuck me now!"

Rant aside here's my actual review lol:
The beginning fade in was alright, but at about :11 it got a little harsh on the eq side. I like that it's fairly simple, not trying to go overboard with a bunch of sounds, but maybe more of a back-melody would be nice, some sort of fun breakdown part.

It loops nicely, and is sort of fun to listen to a couple times through.

I like the drum kit sound you've picked, mainly because it doesn't sound like every other electronic song i'v heard with that same hi-hat and bass pedal sound.

Anyways, nice job here! =3

I'm glad you enjoyed this :)
At the 0:11, Ive toned that down already. I'm making some more changes and probably am going to remake this song or at least change somethings.
Thanks for the review!
Cheers.

Damn you Supersteph54!!

Covered a whole hell of a lot of stuff, and since i don't like repeating what other reviewers have said as much as possible, this might not end up being the most insightful review, but as i write it that may change lol

Lets see, loved the stutter effect throughout, helped break the monotony a bit. The song kept from being to repetitive since the beat seemed to change up quite a bit. I personally like the sound that people are calling "piano". It sounds like some other instrument is playing just under it, and that might be what the people are thinking is low quality. I don' know...

Anyways, nice work here, the only reason i've docked you a point (and this may seem silly...) is because of the 10 seconds of silence that isn't really explained, otherwise this is great! =3

SessileNomad responds:

10 second of silence my ASS!!!

nah i could care less about that, i honestly had more silence and i had lessened it, but i guess not by enough xD

peace out dude thanks for reviewing, glad you liked it

You don't give us much to work from do you? lol

For a first go, it's alright. The sounds fit together fine, but it needs far more.

It's far to short. Yes there are some really well made short loops out there, but they transition well from beginning to end. It doesn't really loop smoothly.

The melody in the background is a bit too simple, and has a stutter at points. What I can say for that is expand, but don't just copy and paste it so that it just repeats. Give it a much more defined melody.

The percussion is alright. Not much on that one.

Pretty much what you'll want to do is expand this, put some hours in to each part individually. Help it be clear.

Anyways, not a bad start, just keep on working on it. =3

Cool :D

Fear the....!

Dissonance!

Few things i can say:
It loops perfectly, and yes this is a big plus on this site.

The melody is nice, to some it might seem a little strange to some with the chord progression. I don't mind it, actually the more i listen to it, the more i come to like it.

The main problem i can think of would be the instrument sounds. It's nit picky, but it can make all the difference. Good work on it =3

Rainfallen responds:

Hm yes, I should play around with some of it some more. The piano needs to be needs to be thinned out, and volume smoothed over in some places. Drums needs something too :p

Thanks for the generous score!

Turn tha distortion down lol

The intro was okay, but the timing was off, and to me it was kind of distracting from the song. Play around with it about, maybe add a few notes, and make sure the timing is a bit better next time.

The distortion is a bit to high. Heavy, yes, but it can be heavy and not have a god awful amount of distortion, to the point where it's kind of hard to distinguish the notes. It's not terrible, i enjoyed it for what it's worth, just needs some clean up work.

But good work with what you did anyways=3

-Review Request Club

Well you made an attempt at least

But unfortunately it falls short with the timing of the notes being used. Single out the sounds more and make sure to time the notes better.

It's random enough for me not to score it a bit lower, but yeah it could use a lot more work, and sadly I don't know what else i could say about it, there isn't much for my brain to try and process. Keep up the work, you'll do fine. =3
